The Children’s Museum is proud to partner with Venture Richmond and sponsor, CarMax to provide kid and family-friendly content for this year’s virtual Folk Festival. While we are sad we can’t be physically together to create and learn, we are pretty tickled with our fun activities that you can easily do at home!

Our Education Team has created some fun family activity videos that will be shared as part of the festival in lieu of our Children’s Area this year! We hope you will watch and participate!

FIRST, pick up your free Bag Hat Kit at our downtown location on Saturday from 10-12 (quantities limited! First come-first served) and then get ready to enjoy great music and join us to learn a little something too!

Here is WHERE (RICHMONDFOLKFESTIVAL.ORG AND YOUTUBE) and WHEN you can find Children’s Museum programming…

Saturday Livestream:

THE RICHMOND FOLK FESTIVAL – A VIRTUAL CELEBRATION
OCTOBER 9-11, 2020

Last year this festival attracted more than 220,000 people to downtown Richmond’s riverfront to celebrate the roots, richness and variety of American culture through music, dance traditional crafts, storytelling and food. The Richmond Folk Festival has become one of Virginia’s largest and most-loved events of the year and has been voted as the best musical festival in Richmond several years running.

The Richmond Folk Festival will celebrate its 16th anniversary the weekend of October 9-11 with a “virtual” event that will bring together the community through a special television program, radio broadcasts and online streaming.

Venture Richmond Events, in partnership with the National Council for the Traditional Arts (NCTA), the Virginia Folklife Program and the Children’s Museum will present new musical performances that are exclusive to this festival, highlights of favorite artists from past festivals, cooking demonstrations, a riverfront art installation, fun family activities, and so much more! The show will go on—a virtual event celebrating the roots, richness, and variety of American culture.

Saturday, October 10 from 12:00-8:00pm
