Children’s Book Bank

The Children’s Book Bank exists to put as many high quality books as possible into the hands and lives of children in need.

We believe that children who live in under-resourced communities deserve high-quality books in great condition!

The Children’s Book Bank helps to ensure that all children have quality books in their home, have the pride of book ownership, and have opportunities to read and be read to. The Book Bank program supports school readiness and literacy development in children and enables community partners to better support our children through the gift of like-new books.

  • An important study shows the most successful way to improve the reading achievement of low-income children is to increase their access to print.
  • In middle-income neighborhoods the ratio of books per child is 13 to 1; in low-income neighborhoods the ratio is a staggering 1 (age appropriate) book for every 300 children. For more literacy statistics, click here.
