The Children’s Museum of Richmond is thrilled to partner with Artworks (and Richmond Public Schools), as they present THREADS: a month-long, hands-on community art project led by Richmond-based fiber artist Richard Harding.  Richard will bring his award winning fiber art process, which incorporates twine and recycled materials to create abstract, wall-mounted, free-hanging, and wearable art installations. Guests will be introduced to a range of fiber materials that can be written on, twisted, braided, and woven, and will contribute individual elements that become part of a larger, shared artwork.

Younger children will engage in tactile fiber exploration and collaborative making.

Older students will have the option to write dreams, hopes, or messages on fabric, which Harding will later weave and sew into the final installation at Artworks.
