The Children’s Museum is searching for an Educator to help us achieve our mission of inspiring growth in all children by engaging families in learning through play! This is a part time as needed position for weekday morning field trip support.
Responsibilities:
The Educator is responsible for delivering educational and engaging programs on a variety of pre-determined topics through facilitation of floor programming, school field trips, and additional education activities at community events and/or offsite locations.
Competencies:
Candidates should have a demonstrable passion for the mission and work of the Museum and a strong desire to make a difference in their community. Candidates should have a strong interest in continuous learning and using new ways to teach; candidates should be comfortable teaching children with diverse backgrounds and education levels. Successful candidates will be organized and proactive with strong collaboration skills.
Skills and Abilities:
Candidates should have an education background and a practical knowledge of teaching in a variety of modes and methods and familiarity with the elementary level of Virginia SOL’s and Virginia Early Learning and Development Standards.
Candidates should have a valid unrestricted driver’s license with clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check. This position requires extensive walking, standing, heavy lifting up to fifty pounds, and occasional use of tools.
