Celery 2

Educator, Hilary, is teaching us all about Osmosis! What a big word- I wonder what it means?

You can re-create this experiment at home! Be sure to share your photos or videos on social media by using #playaheadblog

Supplies

  • Water
  • Food coloring (blue and red work best with celery)
  • Jar, cup, water bottle, etc.
  • Celery stalk (with leaves works best!), flower with light colored petals, etc.
  • Knife or scissors (use only with adult supervision)
  • Patience!

Instructions

  1. Fill your jar 1/2 way with water
  2. Squeeze 6-8 drops of food coloring into water
  3. Place freshly cut celery stalk into your water and food coloring mixture (use the celery to mix in the food coloring)
  4. Here’s the hard part – let your experiment sit for several hours. Feel free to check on it regularly to observe what changes are happening!

We can’t wait to see your experiments! Be sure to use #playaheadblog when you post to social media.
