Community Involvement

Through hands-on programs and whole family activities, Family Engagement at the Children’s Museum helps parents find new and intriguing ways to support and strengthen their children’s development.

School Programs & Field Trips

The Children’s Museum offers school programs and field trips designed for preschools, elementary schools, daycares, and homeschool groups. All programs align to Virginia’s Early Learning and Development Standards and/or Virginia Standards of Learning.

Family Programs

Since merging with Commonwealth Parenting in 2013, Children’s Museum Family Programs has become the Richmond area’s leading resource for parenting information, helping parents find simple and manageable ways for parents to support and strengthen their children’s development.

Living Lab

Research comes alive at the Children’s Museum in downtown Richmond through Living Lab, a community-based learning laboratory designed to highlight the science of child development. Facilitated by VCU Psychology students under the direction of Dr. Marcia Winter, research demonstrations and live studies are conducted on the museum floor.

Sprout School

The Sprout School offers a unique Reggio Emilio-inspired preschool opportunity, where learning is always in play!

Children’s Book Bank

The Children’s Book Bank exists to put as many books as possible into the hands and lives of children in need.

Access for All Fund

Donations to the Access for All program will directly benefit underserved, financially disadvantaged children in our community through discounted admission, scholarship field trips, and scholarship memberships.
