Families with children who have sensory sensitivities and/or disabilities are invited to our 14th annual sensory-friendly visit with Legendary Santa, including special games with VCU OT graduate students, I-Spy activities at each of the Holiday Village houses, museum play, and Gift Shop/Fawn Shop items available for purchase!
Registration and payment for a Sensitive Legendary Santa Visit is required.
Please email any questions to Krista Dawson (kdawson@cmorva.org).
How do I get the link to the Sensitive Santa Nights?
Email Krista Dawson at kdawson@cmorva.org to be added to our list ahead of the October 29 opening to receive a link to the registration page. These events are for families that have a child with sensory sensitivities and/or disabilities.
If I have more than 6 people that will attend with me, how many reservations/tickets do I need?
Each reservation is good for UP TO 6 people. If you have 7-12 people in all, you would need 2 reservations/tickets. Each reservation gets only one free emailed photo. If you share a reservation with another family, they will have to purchase any desired photos.
Can I come before my Santa visit time?
YES! Please come and enjoy all the event offerings–the museum will be open for play, the carousel will be running at the top of each hour, the Fawn Shop will be available for children to purchase surprise gifts and VCU OT students will be providing additional activities. The event starts at 5:30. The last opportunity to get in line to see Santa is at 7:30.
When is the last Santa visit?
The last group will enter SantaLand at 7:30, after that, SantaLand will close and no more visits will be possible. Please be sure to make the last call or you will not be able to visit with Legendary Santa.
Is there a cost?
Yes, there is now a cost of $15 for up to 6 people, to ensure we can continue to provide the three sensory sensitive nights. It is still a wonderful value as you get not only more than ½ off the cost of a regular Legendary Santa visit, you also get an evening of free museum play AND the activities and support provided by our long-time partner, VCU Department of Occupational Therapy.
Of course, there is a cost for any extra photos or any Fawn Shop/gift shop purchases.
The slots are all full. How can I get a visit with Legendary Santa?
There is no waitlist for Sensitive Santa. If you were unable to reserve a ticket, we recommend that you make a regular Santa reservation. With our timed ticketing system, it is never too long of a wait or too many people.
My time slot is past my child’s bedtime, can we see Santa any earlier?
The evening is rather unstructured. There are often times when there is no line and you are then welcome to visit with Santa at that time, even if it isn’t during your scheduled reservation.
What if my child has a melt down when we head in to visit with Santa?
We strive to ensure that the evening is accommodating to our families, knowing that some children need more time to get comfortable. You are welcome to come back and try again later in the evening (no later than 7:30). We do ask that you be respectful of other families that are waiting to see Santa too.
