Summer Interns

This summer, we are excited to have three interns with us! We have two interns from Partnership for the Future, Damarious and Serenity. Serenity was with us last summer, and we’re so excited to have her back this year! We also have one intern from Girls for a Change, Harshitha. Read below to learn about them!

Damarious, Partnership for the Future

My name is Damarious. I am from Richmond, Virginia. I am a graduated senior from Armstrong High School and I will be attending Norfolk State University this coming Fall 2022. I will be majoring in Pre-Nursing, and I plan to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I am a part of a non-profit organization called Partnership For the Future that prepares you in many ways from high school through college. Partnership For the Future helps each student over the summer network with companies that focus on their career goals. My career path is centered around children, so I was happily placed to work at The Children’s Museum this summer. Being able to work at the Children’s Museum this summer is so great and I hope to learn a lot while working with many children this summer. I hope to learn how to create healthy bonds with each individual child and help open their minds to put their own creative ideas to use. I also would like to see each child’s different standpoints on certain things. I feel that by learning these things this summer, when I enter my career path, I will be able to quickly bond and understand a child’s need in the emergency room.

Serenity, Partnership for the Future

My name is Serenity. I am a 2022 graduate of Highland Springs High School. This upcoming fall I will be furthering my education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. I have made the decision to major in Pre-Nursing where I would finish with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. With my degree, I plan to take the proper steps to become a Labor and Delivery Nurse. As a first generation student this journey has been everything but easy; however, it has been a significant experience that made me who I am today. Along this journey I was presented the opportunity of becoming a student of the non-profit organization Partnership For the Future. Over my time at PFF I toured colleges, explored career opportunities, spent every Friday of summer learning life skills, created resumes, prepared for interviews, and even begun an internship my junior year of high school. This internship took place with one of the best non-profit organizations I could work for, Children’s Museum of Richmond. This summer I began my second year as an intern with an open mind and ready to learn new things every day. This summer I hope to learn professional skills I will be able to take on to my future career. I will like to be able to work with the social media team at CMOR. Also, I hope to maybe teach a child at CMOR something new. While doing all of this, my biggest goal is to enjoy each day and moment creating relationships with remarkable people before leaving this August. Hopefully, this gave a small but intriguing insight of what the future may hold!

Harshitha, Girls for a Change

My name is Harshitha. I am currently a sophomore at Highland Springs High school. I got into Highland Springs high school for the ACA (Advanced Collage Academy) program, and applied for business specialty center during my 7th grade year. I have a younger brother, mom, and a dad that support me with everything I do. I have a passion towards becoming a cardiologist after high school, but I also have an interest towards business. I will be deciding which course I like best during the next three years of high school. I am very excited to get closer to my college years and get new experiences. I am hoping to learn more about my ACA program and I will work extremely hard toward graduating with 60 credits. I have learned many important information during my middle school and freshman year that I will use to grow and become the person I want to be. I am very grateful for everything I have and my internship.

Thank you to our wonderful interns for all they do!
