Thankful Tree & The Importance of Gratitude

Create a "Thankful Tree" and explore the benefits of practicing gratitude all year long!

Materials:

  • Construction paper (red, dark green, orange, yellow, and 4x brown)
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Marker

Instructions:

Time needed: 1 hour

  1. Cut triangles out of one piece of brown construction paper to make the top branches of the tree

  2. Using another piece of brown paper, cut it into long strips for additional branches

  3. Cut out simple leaf shapes from the other colors of construction paper

  4. With a marker, write what you are thankful for onto the leaves

  5. Find a wall in your house for your “Thankful Tree” and start assembling! Roll tape to the back of the tree trunk starting at the bottom and continue to add the brown construction paper to create a tree shape

  6. Then, add the strips of brown paper around the top of the tree to create branches

  7. Add the leaves

  8. Optional:

    Write on a new leaf and add it to your “Thankful Tree” each day!
