Q: How can chaperones make my Children’s Museum field trip successful?
A:
- Each chaperone can be responsible for up to five children.
- Chaperones must be able to see all of the children who have been assigned to their care at all times.
- Please visit each exhibit as a group. Have students take turns when choosing exhibits.
- Please silence and refrain from using your cell phone.
- Be prepared to participate in the students’ learning experience. The museum educator may ask chaperones to assist while students participate in program activities.
Q: My school is requesting an invoice for this visit in order to make the payment. How do I go about receiving an invoice?
A: The attachment on your initial confirmation letter serves as your invoice. However, if the student number has changed since you’re booking, please contact the Education Department at education@cmorva.org to request an updated confirmation letter. Remember, your visit total is locked in one week prior and payment is due at that time.
Q: When is payment due?
A: Payment and final group count is due one week prior to your scheduled visit.
Q: Do I need to submit the Scholarship Application prior to booking my Children’s Museum Field Trip?
A: Yes, to receive a discounted, scholarship rate on the day of your visit, we must receive your scholarship application at least two weeks prior to the date of your reservation. This time frame allows the Education Department ample time to process Scholarship Applications and to update invoices with any applicable discounts. If you need to request additional time for the completion of your application, please notify the Education Manager at education@cmorva.org.
Compliance reasons require that scholarship applications be received from qualifying schools each year, regardless of whether or not there has been a change in status from the former year. Click here to complete the application.
Q: Can I also get books for my students?
A: If your group qualifies for a scholarship visit, you are also eligible for books from the Children’s Book Bank! To request books, please complete the form.
Q: Do chaperones pay admission?
A: Chaperones who are required for the safety ratio attend at no cost. The number of required chaperones for your visit is based on the total number of children that attend on the day of your visit to maintain the required 1 adult to 5 children ratio.
Extra chaperones (beyond the safety ratio) are strongly discouraged. If extra adults do attend, they will each pay the general admission price of $9. However, they can also use a personal membership or be admitted at a discount rate if they have an EBT card. Children/siblings that are not part of the class are strongly discouraged as well.
Q: When can I make a request for the upcoming school year?
A: We begin accepting Field Trip reservations on July 1 for the following school year.
