Virtual Field Trips inspire and engage students through 30-minute programs that include an educator facilitated lesson with interesting visuals, demonstrations, and extension activities.
Virtual programs require the site to provide connection to ZOOM through a laptop/computer and ability to share a screen with the students participating. Make sure speakers are enabled to ensure students can hear the presenting educator.
Virtual Field Trips are $100.00 for one class and require at least one adult to be present.
No minimum number of participants is required for a Virtual Field Trip reservation.
Not all programs listed on the website may be available in a virtual format, please check for current offerings.
VIRTUAL Field Trips are booked in a two-step process: 1) Online request; 2) Confirmation Letter
All Virtual Field Trip booking requests must be completed using the online form below. Reservations are not able to be made over the phone or via email. You will receive an automatic email notification if your online request was submitted successfully. Once submitted, please allow two weeks for processing.
Your Virtual Field Trip is not booked until you have received a Confirmation Letter from the Children’s Museum via email. This serves as your invoice. Take note: your Virtual Field Trip will be scheduled based on availability while trying to honor your three requested dates.
Cancellations within two weeks of your scheduled Virtual Field Trip will result in a $50 Administrative Fee.
The $50 Administrative Fee will be charged regardless of scholarship status and includes no-shows. If your school or school district is closed because of inclement weather this fee will be waived and the Children’s Museum will reach out to reschedule your visit.

THINGS TO KNOW THE DAY OF YOUR VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP
Technology Set Up – IMPORTANT!
We recommend setting up the needed technology a half hour before the scheduled start time (noted on your confirmation).
Set up the computer and enter the zoom invite found in your confirmation email.
Make sure your group will be able to see the facilitating educator (we recommend projecting onto a screen to enlarge the viewing area for a group) AND that the educator can see the group (this is important so the educator can interact with the group and see how the students are engaging).
Make sure audio is sufficient for all students to hear the educator presenting.
Check your confirmation email for extension ideas and any materials that need to be gathered before the Virtual Field Trip begins.
Make enough copies of the extension activity for all participating students.
Payment in full is due by the day of your program. Credit card payments are preferred and can be made by phone. Call Krista Dawson at 804-474-7002. If you are paying by check, please ensure it is received prior to the program.
