The Children’s Museum became the home of Legendary Santa in 2005- a natural fit since the museum caters to families with children 0-8 years of age. More than just a fun place to play, the Children’s Museum Downtown is an active, involved opportunity for the entire family to grow and learn together. During your visit to see Legendary Santa, consider exploring the Children’s Museum, Holiday Village, and the Fawn Shop!
The Children’s Museum in Downtown Richmond is the oldest and the biggest of all of our four Children’s Museum locations — offering 44,000 square feet of fun, discovery and learning through play! From the splish-splash and whirlpool of our water play, to indoor “apple-picking” and a kid-run TV studio, there are endless opportunities to play, create and learn — both inside and outside — at our flagship downtown Downtown Richmond museum. Don’t forget to purchase tickets for The Carousel which runs every hour on the hour. Plan your visit to play!
The Genworth Foundation Holiday Village was donated in 2005 as a gift to the Children's Museum, as a result of the museum's extraordinary partnership with Genworth. Prior to residing at the Children’s Museum, Holiday Village had been the seasonal centerpiece at Genworth's Broad Street corporate headquarters for 26 years.
The Genworth Foundation Holiday Village provides the perfect venue to showcase a variety of cultural traditions from around the world. It explores six festivals celebrated by our Richmond neighbors: Christmas, Diwali, Eid, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Lunar New Year. Each Fan-style house features the symbols, traditions and customs that enrich this season of light for so many families.
When Legendary Santa lived at Miller & Rhoads, children looked forward to visiting the Fawn Shop almost as much as they anticipated seeing Santa!
This child-sized area featured gift options at child-sized prices, allowing the youngest shoppers at Miller & Rhoads to purchase gifts for their parents and family members by themselves (with a little help from Santa’s elves).
